Vanir Foundation donates holiday meal baskets to Mother of Sorrows families

Spirited volunteers from The Vanir Foundation in Memory of H. Frank Dominguez and Vanir Construction Management, Inc. pause from assembling holiday meal boxes to smile for a photo at Mother of Sorrows on December 18.

The entire Mother of Sorrows School community sends a big thank you to The Vanir Foundation in Memory of H. Frank Dominguez and Vanir Construction Management, Inc. for providing holiday meal baskets to Mother of Sorrows School families for the second consecutive year.

As part of its 2012/2013 grant award program at Mother of Sorrows School, The Vanir Foundation provided funding to purchase a holiday meal basket for all school families who participated in at least five parent engagement opportunities during the fall of 2012 (August through December). These opportunities included events such as parent meetings and workshops and Family Math Night.

By December, 120 of our school families had reached or surpassed the five-event qualification, and on December 18, a host of generous and jolly volunteers packed the meal boxes (which included a ham, milk, vegetables, rolls and other items to make a complete holiday dinner) and distributed them to each qualifying family. Volunteers included representatives from The Vanir Foundation, members of Vanir Construction Management’s Vanir Ambassadors program, and friends of the Vanir Foundation. A group of Mother of Sorrows School parents also helped with the rapid assembly process.

Again, we thank the Vanir Foundation for continuing to provide tremendous support for our Mother of Sorrows School family, and we thank all the volunteers who made the 2012 holiday meal basket assembly and distribution another great success!
