VMY supports Vincentian family in St. Vincent Meals on Wheels Beach Bike/Walk-a-Thon

May 5, 2015 by DMD

Mother of Sorrows School’s Vincentian Marian Youth (VMY) ended the month of April on a note of service. Five VMY members (8th graders Andrea, Emily, Evelyn and Jocelyn and 5th grader Janet) attended and walked in the St. Vincent Meals on Wheels 20th Annual Beach Bike/Walk-A-Thon in Santa Monica on April 26. Mrs. Arvizu-Sotelo (VMY Moderator), Mrs. Robbins and Miss Ferguson accompanied the group for a morning of supporting a terrific Vincentian ministry.

The day provided beautiful weather and a great time for all MOS participants. Group prayer and stretching kicked off the event. At the end of the walk, each participant received an angel pin. The VMY paricipants also received an event t-shirt and a backpack for their participation. Here at school, the VMY members who participated in the Walk-A-Thon received medals and special recognition at our school mass this past Monday.

Prior to the walk, VMY members organized and held a nacho sale at school to raise money to contribute to Meals on Wheels. Thanks to everyone’s effort, VMY raised $165.03 to donate to St. Vincent Meals on Wheels in addition to the participants’ Bike/Walk-A-Thon registration fee. Way to go, girls!

Thank you to Mrs. Arvizu-Sotelo, Mrs. Robbins and Miss Ferguson for supporting our VMY members in this event, and thank you to everyone who supported VMY’s nacho sale.
