Congratulations to our students who have been recognized for carrying out the DWP skills

Mother of Sorrows School follows a program entitled “Discipline with Purpose” (or DWP). This program strives to teach our students 15 specific self-discipline skills that will help them throughout their lives. These skills include: 1) Listening, 2) Following Instructions, 3) Asking Questions, 4) Sharing: Time, Space, People and Things, 5) Exhibiting Social Skills, 6) Cooperating with Others, 7) Reasons for Rules, 8) Independently Completing a Task, 9) Exhibiting Leadership, 10) Communicating Effectively, 11) Organizing: Time, Space, People and Things, 12) Resolving Problems, 13) Taking the Initiative in Problem Solving, 14) Distinguishing Fact From Feeling and 15) Sacrificing/Serving Others.

Every two or three weeks, one student from every class is recognized for exhibiting an understanding of a specific DWP skill through their behavior and actions inside and outside of the classroom. They receive recognition at school mass and have their picture displayed on a bulletin board.

On October 6, the following students were recognized for displaying skill #4 – Sharing: Nataly Flores, Harleigh McGlothan, Andrea Serrano, Giselle Ayala, Sharon Pineda, Hetzabel Sanchez, Ailani Felix, Ashley Leiva, Arturo Hernandez, Jose Guillen and Laila Hidalgo

On October 20, the following students were recognized for displaying skill #2 – Following Instructions: Itzel Gomez, Daniel Lira, Hilary Vazquez, Benjamin Hernandez, Madison Alvarez, Delainy Gomez, Britney Salmeron, Alejandra Ruiz-Rojas, Andrew Astorga, Karla Jordan and Alexza Tejeda

On November 3, the following students were recognized for displaying skill #1 – Listening: Jacqueline Morales, Mauricio Ruiz, Saira Lopez, Aaron Chavez, James Lopez, Delainy Gomez, Natalia Lopez, Kukim Vazquez Cordova, Justin Perez and Vanessa Pacheco

On November 24, the following students were recognized for displaying skill #3 – Asking Questions: Sofia Tlaseca, Yoselin Vergara, Jose Pasaran, Melanie Felix, Juan Ruiz, Isaac Muñoz, Joshua Castro, Annette Ramirez, Keven Vargas, Alan Portillo and Andrea Robles

On December 8, the following students were recognized for displaying skill #5 – Social Skills: Kevin Flores, Brissia Lopez, Priscila Garcia, Andrea Smith, Molly Barajas, Ashley Barajas, Moses Barragan, Abraham Prieto Guillen, Monica Cueva, Nayeli Gomez and Alexza Tejeda

On January 5, the following students were recognized for displaying skill #6 – Cooperation: Janice Castañeda, Natalie Munoz, Emely Cardoza, Julian Jauraqui, Juliana Cuevas, Gerardo Tlaseca, William Lopez, Asia Hall, Cassandra Figueroa, Spring Barfield and Isabel Briones

On January 19, the following students were recognized for displaying skill #8 – Completing a Task: Jennifer Pasaran, Briana Plancarte, Ashlee Moran, Christa Partida, Michelle Vazquez, Isaac Muñoz, Jessica Flores, Idaly De Luna, Byanca Cardoza, Melanie Zarco and Angela Hidalgo

On February 9, the following students were recognized for displaying skill #15 – Service to Others: Justin Pineda, Julio Barajas Guzman, Giselle Ayala, Jacob Gutierrez, Izabella Trujillo, Ashlee Hinton, Mikayla Alvarez, Dulcemaria Ponce, Karla Jordan and Marbella Trujillo

On January 19, the following students were recognized for displaying skill #7 – Reasons for Rules: Alexander Flores, Yoselin Vergara, Chyeanne Bernardez, Jasmin Flores, Hazel Chavez, Kayla Gutierrez, Kailyn Partida, Hector Hernandez, Rebecca Tellez, Perla Calderon and Emily Manjarrez
