Mr. A with students

“The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you.” A quote from B.B. King.

“That is my promise for the students here at Mother of Sorrows.” These are the first words Mr. Amezcua said when asked about his time here at MOS.

This year Mr. Jorge Amezcua has taken over the reins of the music department from Mrs. Suzanne Edwards and has been graciously teaching our students the beauty that is music. Not only has Mr. Amezcua stepped up to the plate of becoming the music teacher, he has also started a weekly Guitar Club. Every Friday after school you can find Mr. Amezcua (Mr. A for short) teaching student’s grades 6-8 everything they need to know about playing guitar. When asked about his new club here’s what he had to say.

“All the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students in the photographs are beginner guitar players. They  are learning the basic fundamentals of music and guitar which include; chords, scales and songs. This is something that has kept me off of the streets and in the classroom safely practicing my guitar for many years. It is a gift to share it with the students at this time in their lives. Music is a journey and I’m most excited to see where the students will go with the knowledge of music that they are given. My hope for them is to excel in their playing abilities and joyfully lift the spirits of everyone they meet in school, in church, and in the world”

Beautifully Said Mr. A!
