Classes celebrate Month of the Rosary

October 8, 2012 by DMD

Throughout October, Mother of Sorrows School will join our Catholic Church family in celebrating the Month of the Rosary. Individual classes will learn about the Rosary’s significance and will pray the Rosary together to honor Mary and her feast: the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, which fell on October 7th. Additionally, beginning today, Student Council members will lead all classes (via the school P.A. system) in praying one decade of the Rosary per day.

Our Mother of Sorrows community kicked off celebrations for the Month of the Rosary on October 4th when our entire school united as a family of faith to continue our tradition of praying a “living Rosary.” During the living Rosary, all students and faculty gather in our school yard. Together we pray each of the Rosary’s prayers, and as we do, students step forward to represent each individual bead. Eventually, the student beads illustrate the full pattern and shape of the Rosary.

The tradition of praying the living Rosary helps to bring the Rosary to life for our students. It is a celebration of our Catholic identity and our Marian devotion, and it allows our entire community to draw closer to Mary and Jesus.
