Students excel in School-wide Learning Expectations

Mother of Sorrows guides students to achieve six school-wide learning expectations (SLEs). Each month, one student from every class is recognized for exemplifying the qualities of a specific SLE through their behavior and actions inside and outside of the classroom. They receive recognition at school mass and have their picture displayed at the entrance of the school.

In August, the following students were recognized as Active Catholics: Aaron Chavez, Madison Alvarez, Izabella Trujillo, Brandon Cardoza, Alejandra Ruiz-Rojas, Taliyah Bernardez, Joshua Papaqui, Josue Briones, and Elsie Cardoso. These students apply the teachings of Jesus and the Church and participate actively in liturgies, sacraments, and prayer.

In September, the following students were recognized as Young Vincentians: Molly Barajas, Jerrie Pineda, Ariadne Lozano, Aeilani Felix, Maeiivory Munoz, Ammorette Melchor, Perla Calderon, Isabel Briones, Tiffany Zarco, and Luis Mercado. These students are able to identify Catholic social teachings, serve others within the school and community, and identify the importance of models of Vincentian service.

In October, the following students were recognized as Effective Communicators: Michael Cisneros, James Lopez, Andrea Buenrostro, Moses Barragan, Alejandra Ruiz-Rojas, Keven Vargas, Jose Guillen, Jocelyn Lopez, Valeria De Luna, and Jasmine Bonilla. These students write and speak using skills for appropriate audiences and listen actively.

In November, the following students were recognized as Critical Thinkers: Nicole Martinez, Maya Navarette, Jonathan Rodriguez, Jocelyn Miranda, Mikayla Alvarez, Andrew Astorga, Melanie Zarco, Daniel Martinez, Cidney Perez, and George Cardoza. These students use strategies to solve problems. They are also able to apply, synthesize, analyze, and evaluate information.

In December, the following students were recognized as Self-Aware Individuals: Jenise Martinez, Priscilla Hidalgo, Britney Salmeron, Brisa Mejia, Antonio Felix, Justin Perez, Natalie Martinez, Sachy Bonilla, and Syan Morgan. These students practice self-control and are able to identify personal strengths and weakenesses.

In January, the following students were recognized as Life-long Learners: Julian Jauregui, Anabella Trujillo, Julio Frutos-Silva, Vanessa Linares, Matheu Castaneda, Ashley Merino, Jesus Miranda, Frankie Padilla, Emely Garcia, and Jazmin Cruz Hernandez. These students can explain the relationship between classroom learning and real life. They are also able to set, monitor, and evaluate progress towards goals and pursue academic interests beyond the classroom.

In February, the following students were recognized as Active Catholics: Priscilla Diaz, Ethan Martinez, Kayla Gutierrez, Isabel Islas, Alize Navarette, Delilah Partida, Alan Portillo, Jocelyn Lopez, Hector Lozano, and Lisa Hall. These students apply the teachings of Jesus and the Church and participate actively in liturgies, sacraments, and prayer.

In March, the following students were recognized as Young Vincentians: Melanie Felix, Naomi Papaqui, Hetzabel Sanchez, Jose Adame, Jasmine Rodriguez, Martin Rangel, Ashley Cardoza, Robert Figueroa, Silka Perez, and Sinai Lopez. These students are able to identify Catholic social teachings, serve others within the school and community, and identify the importance of models of Vincentian service.
