Students excel in School-wide Learning Expectations

Mother of Sorrows School guides students to achieve six school-wide learning expectations (SLEs). Every three weeks, one student from every class is recognized for exemplifying the qualities of a specific SLE through their behavior and actions inside and outside of the classroom. They receive recognition at school mass and have their picture displayed at the entrance of the school.

On August 26, the following students were recognized as Active Catholics: Alan Vazquez, Jeremy Covarrubias, Naomi Papaqui, Ashley Barajas, Brandon Cardoza, Alejandra Ruiz, Jason Gutierrez, Jose Guillen, Francisco Padilla and Genesis Amador. These students apply the teachings of Jesus and the Church and participate actively in liturgies, sacraments and prayer.

On September 16, the following students were recognized as Young Vincentians: Derek Mendez, Benjamin Hernandez, Amore Fofanah, Jonathan, Stephanie Sigala, Brisa Mejia, Delilah Partida, Andrew Lopez, Isabel Briones and Cidney Perez. These students are able to identify Catholic social teachings, serve others within the school and community, and identify the importance of models of Vincentian service.

On October 7, the following students were recognized as Effective Communicators: Jose, Aaron Chavez, Walter Guerra, Andrea Buenrostro, Moses Barragan, Jasmine Rodriguez, Natalia Barajas, Angel, Robert Figueroa and Tiffany Zarco. These students write and speak using skills for appropriate audiences and listen actively.

On October 28, the following students were recognized as Critical Thinkers: Hillary Vazquez, David Jimenez, Yaretzi Pineda, Ariadne Lozano, Natalia Lopez, Mikayla Alvarez, Kristine Salmeron, Angel, Anrika Goods and Varikki Goods. These students use strategies to solve problems. They are also able to apply, synthesize, analyze and evaluate information.

In November, the following students were recognized as Self-Aware Individuals: Geraldine Montiel, Giselle Ayala, James Lopez, Izabella Trujillo, Ashlee Hinton, Abraham Prieto-Guillen, Keven Vargas-Pineda, Alan Portillo, Julissa Mendez, Milagro Guillen. These students practice self-control and are able to identify personal strengths and weaknesses.

In December, the following students were recognized as Life-Long Learners: Daniel Lira, Peter Rocha, Christa Partida, Lindzay Herrera, Leovy Peralta, Vanessa Linares, Leah Martinez, Anthony Paniagua, Perla Calderon, Benedict Vazquez, Anthony Castro. These students can explain the relationship between classroom learning and real life. They are also able to set, monitor, and evaluate progress toward goals and pursue academic interests beyond the classroom.

In January, the following students were recognized as Active Catholics: Matthew Gutierrez, Samantha Rodriguez, Jasmin Flores, Jacob Gutierrez, Hetzabel Sanchez, William Lopez, Jocelyn Papaqui, Monica Cueva Jimenez, Jesus Miranda, Alexza Tejeda, Josue Briones. These students apply the teachings of Jesus and the Church and participate actively in liturgies, sacraments and prayer.

We look forward to recognizing more students as they grow throughout the year!
